Is the New Three Stooges Film an 'Idiotic' Idea? [POLL]
The Farrelly brothers, known for such comedies as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary," have released a film depicting the beloved Moe, Larry and Curly in a modern day setting.
The issue can be divisive: The Stooges or the Marx Brothers?
While both camps could rant on and on about the value of their favorite comedy trio, more recently the age old debate has shifted to whether or not a feature film version of the "Three Stooges" should be made.
Suffering more than a decade of production delays and losing high-profile cast members left and right throughout the process, many thought the movie, based on the comedy shorts that began entertaining audiences in 1930, would never be made.
Well, for better or worse, it has been made and opened nationwide on Friday.
Critical reception for the film, directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly (known for such films as "Dumb and Dumber" and "There's Something About Mary"), has thus far been mixed, earning a tepid 43 percent approval rating from critics, and a more encouraging 71 percent from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
To call feature length film is a bit misleading as the movie is a collection of three shorts in the original style of the slapstick trio, but set in the modern day.

Think your poll needs to plot results next to male/female statistics. Its been anectodally proven that there is a Stooges gene on the Y chromosome so your results will be skewed otherwise. :)

I don't think the Three Stooges should be seen in more than 15-minute shorts. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk starts losing its flavor after a while.

I didnt vote because there wasnt an option for me. I saw it, who doesnt love the Stooges. Or should I say more to Mike's point, what GUY doesn't like the Stooges.
It was a HUGE disappointment. 20 bucks for 2 tickets and anothr 20 for refreshments, definitely wasn't worth the price. One of my sons saw it too and felt the same way and they like EVERYTHING!
Its sad too because I was really looking forward to this movie.

It was a great movie for what it was! I went expecting to see the 3 Stooges and that is what I got! There were many children in the theater and they were into the Stooges. They laughed and screamed with joy and delight at the antics of Moe, Larry and Curly. I don't know for sure but, I don't think any of those kids had nightmares as a result of watching the 3 Stooges.

It's just not right. Remember when they 'colorized' Miracle on 34th Street? I was personally going to go start something with the Turner corp if they took a swipe at "It's a Wonderful Life". Jimmy Stewart's skin tone actually WAS a shade of gray, as was Bogey and Hepburn... I'm positive of that, I'm a photographer. I refuse to even entertain the concept of Casablanca smeared with garish neon.
The Stooges. Same story. Not color, no cartooons, none of the nonsense. Original Moe, Larry and Curley. Maybe a bit of Shemp once in a while. Leave my Stooges alone!!!!

Seeing the Three Stooges in a colorized, present-day movie was a bit of a shock, though I think the actors did a pretty good job copying the mannerisms of the originals. The disclaimer at the end of the movie with the Farelley Brothers was a sad commentary on todays society.
I have all the original black and whites which will never be replaced. I can watch them anytime...and I often do with my grandson...a new generation of boys who love the Three Stooges.

It is appropriate htat the NY Times released its "MOST WANTED" lists for the passed week. Ths movie was #1 and Cabin In The Woods was #2 and Titanic 3D was #3. My comment is, that I hope that these are the same folks who do not register to vote.
