Area stores, such as Marlborough's Best Buy, are among those getting hit with people looking to get their hands on the latest from the minds at Apple as the iPhone 5 hit 2 million pre-orders.
“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing in a press release.
Demand for iPhone 5 will exceed the initial supply, according to Apple officials, and while the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to customers on September 21, many are scheduled to be delivered in October.
That has not stopped people from placing their pre-orders at Marlborough's retailers such as Best Buy. They will also be available at Marlborough's AT&T later in the week.
According to a press release from AT&T corporate, the iPhone 5 is still available for pre-order online and will be available in AT&T retail stores beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 21. In the same release, the company said the pre-orders made it the fastest-selling iPhone the company has ever offered but did not release any numbers.
