Next week is February school vacation for many Marlborough children. If you haven’t made plans for your kids, here are some deals for fun things to do.
1. Wayside Racquet and Swim Club has reduced the rate for many of its February vacation programs for kids. There is still time to sign up for tennis or swimming lessons; there are full and half-day programs. Sign up for the full week or just for a day. The public rates have been reduced as follows: Stepping Stone weekly rate $315 reduced to $285; Tennis and Swim or PAL weekly rate $175 reduced to $160; Stepping Stones daily rate $85 reduced to $70; Tennis and Swim or PAL daily rate $45 reduced to $40. Member rates are also discounted. The weekly rate is discounted based on the daily rate. To sign up, call Wayside at 508-481-1797.
2. February Happenings at the Marlborough Public Library: The Marlborough Public Library has some great free events for teens in grades 7 through 12. Come to the Pizza Tasting event Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 5 to 6 p.m. Try pizza from six local pizza shops and give your opinion as to which one you think has the best sauce, dough, cheese, etc. On Friday, Feb. 24 from noon to 1:30 p.m., come to the Hunger Games Competition. The player with the most points at the end of the competition wins two movie passes to see the Hunger Games. Space is limited for both of these events so register by Thursday, Feb. 16. The library will be hosting its first writing competition open to teens in grades 7 through 12 who are Marlborough residents or attend a Marlborough school. Submit your best story or poem from Feb. 6 to March 2. Four lucky teens will win $100. Click here for more information on the competition and to download a submission form. If a museum visit is in your vacation plan, remember that the library has many great passes for area museums, including the more expensive ones in Boston. Check now to see if a pass is available for your favorite museum.
3. McDonald’s deal: Save on your McDonald’s favorites by picking up a “Friend Pack” for $2, and get 12 coupons for items such as apple dippers, apple juice or milk, ice cream cones, or hamburgers. This is a great way to save when you take the whole crew for lunch! Available while supplies last at participating McDonalds. Coupons are valid through May 29.
4. Consign My Closet is coming back to Marlborough. Looking for a great way to save and make money? Consign My Closet, a resale event, is coming back to Marlborough from March 15 through March 18 at the former Borders Bookstore on Donald Lynch Boulevard. This is a huge and well-organized sale with many name brands. If you have gently-used “fashionable name brand” children’s clothing or equipment, get some cash by consigning them. Click here for more information on this event and to register as a consignor.
Refer to merchants directly for terms and conditions for their deals. Have a great February break!
