Exploding Home, Life Flight and a Hurricane
Rescue crews were busy in the last week with an exploding home and an accident that required a life flight.
Gas has been called the cause of a house explosion that shook a neighborhood while one person had to be taken by helicopter to a hospital following an accident on Parmenter Road.
At 1:04 a.m. on Sunday morning, multiple 911 calls were received alerting the Marlborough Fire Department to a house explosion at 15 Grant Ct. Neighbors reported feeling the explosion which left the house's walls blown out and the structure on fire.
An investigation by Marlborough Fire Department's Fire Investigations Unit and the State Fire Marshal's office is ongoing, he said.
A car accident on Parmenter Road last Thursday sent three people to the hospital, one by helicopter due to his injuries. The single-car accident is being investigated by the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
"They’ll measure skid marks... and take photographs,” said Marlborough Det. Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau. “We can get a pretty good feel as to what happened.”
Police and Fire personnel were busy during the beginning of the week dealing with Hurricane Sandy. Even though Marlborough avoided much of the damage that struck other parts of the country, officials were still out addressing many calls during the storm.
