The community of Marlborough takes great pride in its Labor Day parade, happening this Monday at noon, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3565 will be leading the way as the Grand Marshall's this year.
“The Fraternal Order of Eagles has helped countless families and made substantial contributions to many causes in the nearly forty year history in the City of Marlborough,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant. “The Eagles exemplify this year’s parade theme of “Volunteers in Service” and I believe this is a
fitting way to pay tribute to all their hard work and community service.”
The organization was formed in Seattle Washington in 1898. With the mottor of "People Helping People" the Marlborough Aerie has been involved, and continues to be involved with many organizations. These include the Marlborough Public Library, the Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs, and the Marlborough Senior Center.
The organization has donated more than $100,000 in scholarships to area students over the years.
The Aerie has also sponsored youth sports for the past 20 years, including Pop Warner Football, Marlborough Youth Baseball, Girls’ Softball, Babe Ruth Baseball, Triboro Youth Hockey and most recently Youth Lacrosse.
The Eagles have sponsored Marlborough’s Cub Scout Pack # 31 for over 20 years, having helped sponsor 7 Eagle Scouts.
The parade will take place beginning at noon on Labor Day and make its way down Main Street.
