Bonkers for BeeZers
Marlborough residents turn out for the grand reopening of a hot dog stand.
Guy Angers is a Chicago dog enthusiast from Marlborough who headed out for the opening of BeeZers.
"I'm a long time lover of the Chicago hot dog," he said. "I found out it was opening even before it got in the paper."
On Friday, he was one of the many who visited for the grand opening of BeeZers, the hot dog (and more) stand that has taken up residence in the Trombetta's building on Main Street.
BeeZers, which lost its lease nearly two years ago, had been hoping for a chance to reopen and the stars aligned when the Barsamian family, which owns Trombetta's, called them up.
Earlier this week, Linda Bock, who owns BeeZers with husband Steve, welcomed the refrigerated truck to the site that delivered the neon-green relish straight from Chicago. You can't have a real Chicago dog without that relish, they say. The hot dogs, too, come from Chicago.
"It's really a cult thing," said Linda.
Though most in line ordered a dog (and after got an ice cream from Trombetta's), others partook in other items on the menu. Christine McGinnity, who always ordered the veggie wrap at the old location, chose the lobster roll which featured huge chunks of fresh lobster meat from West Boylston Seafood.
You can get those on the famous poppyseed buns (baked at Crown Bakery), too.
