Bolton Street Tavern Opens

Family-style dining comes to Bolton Street.

The community has already begun to embrace the Bolton Street Tavern which began a soft opening on Monday.

“They’ve been very supportive. They want us to do well. So that is really a very good feeling,” said Manager Peter Moynihan of the new restaurant at 587 Bolton Street.

A soft opening allows a restaurant to get everything up and running in preparation for a grand opening. All the items besides pizza are on the menu and the restaurant's take out service is being delayed until the grand opening, said Moynihan.

“We’re trying to take care of the people in the restaurant first,” he said explaining that customers have been very understanding as the restaurant works up to its full potential. "99% of them have been very understanding and very patient about how new we are.”

The Bolton Street Tavern is in the former Picadilly Pub building which had been vacant for over a year. People are happy to have a restaurant back at the location, said Moynihan.

“They’re quite enthusiastic," he said. "They want us to do really well.”

The restaurant is owned by John and Sharon Stounaras who also own and operate the Morse Tavern in Natick. The family-style dining at the Bolton Street Tavern is based closely on their other restaurant although it will feature more seafood to fit the water side location.

Outdoor seating is planned for the location, although the design has yet to be finalized, said Moynihan.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to midnight and has a full service bar. The phone number for the restaurant that can seat roughly 220 is (508) 485-4416.

They will be open from Noon until Midnight. There will likely be no St. Patrick's day specials as the location has just opened. Just wondering, is everything prepared fresh here? Do they use fresh products or is it another place that is using the frozen products that they just have to heat up and then throw together? Are there items that are made "Fresh to order"? Thank You

I was there for apps and beer. I thought that would have been a safe bet. I was wrong. If the food isn't from frozen that maybe it should be. It could not be much worse. Service needs lots of work, server was not aware of some of the simplest questions. Too bad I was looking forward to the opening. Won't be going back!

went the Tarven this past friday, service was horrible, no clam chowda, no prime rib (waiter didnt even know it was on the menu for thur-fri-sat), he did say no pizza available yet. drinks were watered down. ordered a salad, never asked what kind of dressing, he brought whatever it was, (no flavor to it, looked like vinger and water) mashed potatoes were ice cold, steak tips excellent, fish and chips, fish was excellent, onion rings hardly any batter, ff's werent cookesd and soggy from the gross cole slaw that tiped over. waiter never asked if we wanted coffee or desert and never seen a desert menu, not even sure they had deserts!
we may give it another try but it will be awhile, alot of quirks need to be ironed out and wait staff needs to be better informed on the menu and how to wait on tables. no personality never came back to check and see if everything was ok...over all 1-10 id give it a 3...Good Luck!

My wife and I went to the Tavern last Thursday, hoping to have a nice restaraunt in a great spot. Well, the location is awesome and that is where it ends. The place was nowhere near crowded, but it took some of the folks an hour and a half to get a dinner that was almost warm. Our calamari starter was a huge disappointment - obviously a frozen product just out of the bag. It went back without a replacement.

My suggestion is that you stay away, hope they go out of business and are replaced by a nice eatery that we deserve here.

I brought in a party of 20 people to the Bolton Street Tavern, last week and the food was very good, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was great, I don't know what happened to the previous customer but the experience the other 3 times I have been there has always been very good.

Went there for the fist time. Wasn't expecting their best yet, since it just opened.
Let me tell you something. My wife and I split a salt shakers worth of salt on the food that was prepared for us.
My tounge is still burning from the salt.
Why not let the patron choose the amount of salt they want?
Ask for you meal to be prepared with "NO SALT"
Maybe you will go back a second time. I am still on the fence about trying it again.

PS
The Heinz ketchup poured out of the bottle like water. Never seen that in my life. Usually have to break the bottle to get it out.
Waterd down?

I went about two weeks ago with husband for lunch. The food and portions were great, but the service person had a lack of customer service skills. Every time she would ask if we needed something else she would literally leave me hanging!!! She brought everything we asked for at the table but her personality was horrible. Since the food was great at that time I decided to go again with my daughter for lunch also and the service was even worse this time around. First when we arrived the server did not bring utensils to the table, he advised that the person next to him was being trained and continued to ask what we needed for drinks. I had noticed that he had offered the rest of the clients current specials but he did not mention a peep to us. He brought the drinks 5 to 10 min later. We werent going to have an appetizer so when he finally brought the drinks I told him we were ready to order. We ordered the Route 85 hamburgers. He still did not realize the we were missing our utensils and I was hopeful that he would realize then but nope he did not. Our food came around 20 min later! He asked us if we needed something else and at that time I told him we needed ketchup for our fries, he never brought utensils and we could not eat the cole slaw. We ran out of drinks and I had to wave to another server so she could come and bring us drinks. Not once did our server come to check on us or how we were doing!!! I asked for the dessert menu and again no drinks. Won't be going back!

I'm waiting a while too in order for them to get the kinks out, but unfortunately via word of mouth I'm not hearing good things at all about this place right now, from A-Z. You better offer a coupon to get these customers to try again or they won't go back.
