Bertucci's Closes one of its Marlborough Locations
The Northborough-based restaurant chain also closed a location in Newton recently.
A city known for its restaurants now has one fewer.
Bertucci's has closed its Boston Post Rd. location, the second restaurant in the state shuttered this month by the Northborough-based chain.
A voicemail message at the Route 20 location said the restaurant closed on Wednesday, June 27 but did not give a reason.
"Thank you for all the memories. We have truly enjoyed being part of the Marlborough community for the past 25 years," the message states.
Calls to the chain's Northborough headquarters seeking comment were not immediately returned.
The chain, best known for its brick-oven pizza, also operates a local restaurant at the Solomon Pond Mall.
According to Marlborough assessor's office online records, Bertucci's Inc. owns the site at 374 Boston Post Rd. East, having purchased it in 1989 for $675,000. The property is currently valued at $598,000.
Earlier this month, Bertucci's shuttered its Atrium Mall location in Chestnut Hill. The chain still has more than 35 restaurants in Massachusetts, including locations in Framingham, Holliston and Westborough, according to its Website. Overall, there are 90 Bertucci's locations.
GoLocal Worcester recently said that Marlborough's strong variety of restaurants is one of its greatest assets as a community, though economic factors helped drag the city into the bottom part of the rankings of central Mass. communities.
