5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 9

Last call for nominations and if your computer is infected, you might not be able to read this.

 


1. Last call … for nominations, that is: The first phase of the Patch Readers Choice awards ends Monday, when nominations will be closed. From there, readers will be asked to choose overall winners, so if there’s a local business you want to have included in the mix, now is the time to submit a nomination. 

2. If your Internet connection is giving you trouble today, your computer may be infected with spyware. The FBI planned to disconnect from the Internet computers infected with a certain type of malware

3.  The City Council meets Monday night and will take up a number of items, including public hearings on some cell tower proposals and a request from the proponents of the controversial Cumberland Farms proposal for Maple St., who are seeking an extension of the deadline to act on their application. 

4. The Marlborough Public Library’s summer reading programs continue. On Monday, the children’s program will feature a visit from nocturnal animals, in keeping with the theme focusing on the night. The animals arrive at 3 p;m. in the Children’s Room.

5. The Marlborough Senior Center is offering its popular bowling trip to Sawyer’s in Northborough on Friday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. The outing costs $3 and teams wil be made from those who sign up. Visit the Senior Center or call (508) 485-6492. to register .
