$10,000 Bail for Man Charged with Punching Woman in Face

A local man has paid $10,000 cash in bail after allegedly breaking into an apartment and punching a woman in the face.

A Sudbury man who allegedly punched a woman in the face after breaking into her apartment Saturday is out on $10,000 cash bail.

"He entered the apartment and threatened to kill the female victim and punched her in the nose with a closed fist," said Det. Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau of the Marlborough Police Department.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman bleeding from the nose, but she refused medical attention.

The man who allegedly hit her, later identified as Michael Koenig, 50, of 82 Phillips Road in Sudbury reportedly broke into the bedroom window of the victim's apartment on Broadmeadow Road shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday night. He then threatened to kill the woman and man in the apartment before striking the woman, according to Det. DeCiero.

The female victim reported that Koenig left when she went to call 911. He fled the scene in a black Mercedes, according to the police report.

He posted $10,000 cash bail on Monday and has a pre-trial hearing set for April 8, according to court documents. He has been charged with armed burglary, vandalizing property, assault and battery and two counts of threatening to commit a crime. The armed burglary charge stems from terms in state law that cause breaking into a person's house and assaulting them at night to fall into the armed burglary category, said Det. DeCiero.

He lives around the corner from me in a neighborhood with tons of kids. I don't like having a violent person so close roaming around either. He tried to evade the cops and hid behind the CVS when it was clear she was calling the police - he can afford the bail to get out so it either should have been steep enough to make him serious about staying away or domestic violence arrests where the suspect evades the police should involve a longer period before letting the suspect out.

Jim, this report and others are from the police report. He broke into her apartment and he hit a woman ( the mother of his children) in the face. And from what I understand this is not the first time. I am curious what does the level of an offense have to be these days to keep the offender in jail until the hearing?
